Today, Labour Councillors from Boston Castle and Wingfield Ward celebrated with local community groups at the launch event for the new equipment in Clifton and Greasbrough Parks. Councillor’s Rose McNeely and Taiba Yasseen (Boston Castle) and Sarah Allen and John Williams (Wingfield) attended the event with the local groups Friends of Clifton Park and Friends of Greasbrough Park.
These groups have recently pursued the project of installing new park equipment in their respective Clifton and Greasbrough Park. Both wanted new facilities aimed at improving the health and well-being of older people in the local communities. The new equipment is designed to help the health and mobility of older people by encouraging gentle exercise. They can also be used by young and old alike bringing members of the community together.
Both projects were supported by their local Councillors and the community groups received funding towards these facilities from last years Area Assembly devolved budgets. The new equipment has recently been installed in both parks and today was an occasion to celebrate this achievement.
The equipment was officially opened today by Rotherham Council, Friends of Clifton Park, Friends of Greasbrough Park and local Councillors.
