Rotherham Labour Labour Councillors in Rotherham
Local Labour Councillors are demanding that the Environment Agency think again on their latest notice regarding Grange Landfill. The Environment Agency has informed local residents that Grange Landfill has met all pre-operational conditions for their permit to dump waste on Droppingwell, Rotherham. The agency say the firm intend to commence work in the next 18 months to prepare the site which could include installing roads, fencing and compounds.
Local Labour Councillor Maggi Clark, who represents this area in Keppel ward, has commented: “The agreement of the permit is deeply disappointing for us. It is unthinkable that this beauty spot will be torn up and turned into a tip. On behalf of all resident’s I urge the Environment Agency to rethink it’s position.”
The Environment Agency notice that has been sent out to local residents can be read here.
