Today, Labour councillors in Swinton volunteered in a community skip and litter pick event. The community event was attended by volunteers and Labour’s local Councillor’s Victoria Cusworth, Stuart Sansome and Ken Wyatt who represent Swinton ward. The skip was held on St John’s Road where the local councillors and volunteers collected litter in the surrounding area.
This community clean up was organised and funded by the local Area Housing Panel.
Local councillors in Swinton and Wath have also previously volunteered in a community clean up event held at Pottery Ponds in the summer earlier this year. Rotherham Council have recently set up a campaign in the borough called ‘Love Where You Live’ to encourage and support more litter picks in the community. Local people can volunteer as part of this campaign to help keep their community clean and tidy, the council can loan litter pick equipment for free and collect the rubbish after the event as well.
