In July Labour’s Cabinet Member for Housing at Rotherham Council, Cllr Dominic Beck, officially opened the Bellows Road housing development with new council properties in Rawmarsh.

The Bellows Road development is a significant part of Labour’s programme to build more council properties across the borough. It was officially opened in July and it offers 28 brand new properties for council rent and a further 30 new properties for shared ownership. Cllr Dominic Beck was joined by Labour’s local councillors for Rawmarsh – Cllr Bob Bird and Cllr David Sheppard – for the official opening.

Cllr Dominic Beck, Cabinet Member for Housing at Rotherham Council, has said:

“This Council is delivering the biggest new council housing delivery programme in our borough for more than a generation.

“Sites in Rawmarsh, Maltby, Kiveton Park and East Herringthorpe are benefiting from the new council homes being built under this programme.

Since July, there have been even further sites opened across the borough under the council housing building programme. At the beginning of September, three new Council bungalows were opened in Kiverton Park. The addition of new bungalows is extremely welcome as they come at a time when more properties like this are needed in our communities with an ageing population.

And just this week, Cllr Dominic Beck cut the ribbon and opened another site of new council properties in East Herringthorpe yesterday. This development offers 3 new homes for council rent and 13 for shared ownership. These properties have been delivered in partnership between Rotherham Council and Wates Group as part of the building programme.
