12,000 Rotherham children are set to lose out

For the last two years during the cost of living crisis 12,000 Rotherham children on free school meals have been receiving vouchers to support them through the school holidays – now the Conservative government seems set to scrap the funding that pays for them.

Nearly one in four Rotherham children under the age of 16 have benefited, helping their families to the value of £195 per year.

Tell the Tories it’s the wrong time to be taking food away from our kids.

Tory cuts will take away £5 million of funding to the borough of Rotherham at a time when local people need it the most. Despite the public comments of Conservative councillors, government statements are clear that the existing funding runs out at the end of March.

As a result, unless the government changes plan Rotherham’s vouchers will come to an end at the Easter holidays.

But there’s still time for the government to change its mind. Please help us to make the case to them – and support our campaign.

And if you live in the Rother Valley constituency, our prospective parliamentary candidate Jake Richards has launched his own petition calling on the government to save the Household Support Fund. Please sign it here!
